Paper on Skin™ invites Australian and international artists to embrace the challenge of designing a wearable garment made from at least 80% paper.
The first gala event was held at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery in 2012. In 2022 we relocated to our new home of Devonport and expanded our suite of activities.
Paper on Skin™ now involves an international competition (over $14 000 in prizes); a theatrical gala event and award presentation and an immersive paper installation called the Universe of Paper. This will be the setting for the pre-show soirée, to be launched on the gala night – 21 Sept.
A six-week long exhibition at the Devonport Regional Gallery will open on the 28 Sept.
Paper on Skin™ will also host US-based paper expert Helen Hiebert who will run lectures and workshops during the gala week.
Major Partner: Devonport City Council. Paper on Skin™ is also supported by North West Support Services and the Tasmanian Government. Universe of Paper is made possible by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia.
