Whistling Kite New Music - The Traveller Without Baggage

Whistling Kite New Music return to Darwin Entertainment Centre with special guest Georgina Lewis for an exciting and eclectic program of French, American and Australian chamber music featuring piano. The Traveller Without Baggage traverses vast musical territory representing the diverse interests of Whistling Kite New Music musicians and guest pianist Georgina Lewis. It will feature the effervescent virtuosity of 20th Century French repertoire by Darius Milhaud, Paule Maurice and Nadia Boulanger, the entrancing post-minimalism of American composers John Adams and Nico Mulhy, as well as contemporary Australian voices Anne Norman and Jabra Latham. Georgina Lewis (Piano, VIC) appears regularly as a soloist and chamber musician with some of Melbourne’s most respected musicians. Her performances have earned a reputation for their sensitivity and authentic, unfiltered musicality. Debuting at the 2020 Darwin Festival, Whistling Kite New Music are the NT’s most dynamic chamber group, comprised of some of the Top End’s most exciting and versatile performers and composers. Whistling Kite New Music are passionate about bringing new and never before heard music to NT audiences, as well as commissioning and collaborating on new work.
